Around the Hotel - Stella

The current natural coastline has gradually formed over the centuries, with the retreat of the sea, leaving a landscape of beaches, dunes, estuaries and cliffs on which the Opal Coast was born. So named in 1911 in tribute to its changing lights. Located on the sea and facing England, Boulogne-sur-Mer, a city of art and history, preserves a great heritage of military strategy; fortified ramparts of the 13th century, built on Roman remains, up to the Napoleonic era. Long linked to military activities, fishing and commerce, the region met with immense tourist success at the start of the 20th century. Its long beaches and the therapeutic benefits of its oceanic climate attract wealthy tourists. Many seaside resorts appear. Le Touquet becomes a prestigious destination and Berck-sur-Mer, the benchmark for spa treatments.

The Dunes trail, 800 meters away

Departing from Cucq church, the hiking trail crosses the changing beauty of the dune landscape, along a route varying from 5 to 20 km. Depending on the wind, the waters, the tides, the permanent metamorphosis of the coastline is both poetic and spectacular. Discover a heritage and natural jewel of the Opal Coast.
    Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, 6.5 km - 12 min.

At the beginning of the 19th century, Le Touquet was a dune landscape, at the mercy of the changing waters. One man, Maitre Daloz, invests part of his fortune in planting a pine forest. The transformed landscape, combining marine beauty and plant structure, soon aroused a strong tourist attraction and the interest of creating a seaside resort. It will welcome British wealth first, then tourists from around the world.
    Etaples-sur-Mer, 8 km -18 min.

A city under siege during the two world wars, Etaples hosts one of the largest military cemeteries in France. Built on the site of a 14-18 military camp, it was inaugurated by King George V in 1922. This open-air sanctuary, overlooking a large estuary on the road to Boulogne-sur-Mer, brings together more than 11,000 soldiers who died in the first conflict of the 20th century. Other fighters who died in the Second World War are buried there. The site is managed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, an independent British administration.
The Baie de Somme, 60 km - 1 hour.

The Baie de Somme is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. The estuary, with its sandy landscape, opens on nearly 5 km on the English Channel offering an exceptional natural spectacle, where sky and sea merge, according to the seasons and the tides.
